Our Lady of the Rosary

Tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. I have been reading about it and it seems it is also know as the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. If you want to read about this feast, read here.

I think its interesting that the Orthodox celebrate a similar Marian feast on October 1 called The Feast of the Holy Skepi of the Theotokos. It also celebrates the special love and protection Our Lady has for all her children. There is a beautiful icon that usually shows the Holy Theotokos holding out her veil to cover and protect. So many times have I prayed for friends, asking Our Lady to intercede and pray she wraps them in her mantle and keep them safe.

Kontakion in the Plagal of the Fourth Tone

Let us the faithful hasten to the Theotokos now and venerate her sacred veil, as we chant unto her, singing hymns to praise and honour her, as is fitting; for she shelt'reth with her shelter and all her faithful flock and preserveth them unharmed from all calamities, as they cry to her: Rejoice, Protection most radiant.
