Today was Carmen's first soccer game. They lost. Big. But she played very well. I was very proud. Because most of the rest of her team is somewhat inexperienced, this may be an opportunity for her to lead. So even if they don't win a lot, this will be good for her. Being a middle kid in a big family doesn't give you many opportunities to lead. I know she will grow, and not just in how well she plays the game.
There is of course more to the story, like how we practiced with 2 different teams this week. But its done, this is her team. I hope we have a great season. I hope all the girls learn about skill, determination and teamwork.
