Never doubt a kid's ability to get to the heart of the matter.

During a religion lesson where the little girls and I were talking about God's goodness and love in creating us, I pose this sentence, asking Anna to finish it:

"To go to heaven we must be _____."

The answer of course is good. But Anna, a bit more pragmatic, looks up at me and says:

"...um, dead."

I laughed, because of course, she is correct. I told her yes, but we need to be good too.

"Oh, yes" she says, "Good and dead."
