Knitting

I finally did it! I taught myself how to knit. I see why people get can get seriously addicted. I feel myself sliding slightly over the edge. It really is a lot of fun. Right now I'm just working on getting down the basics and practicing, practicing, practicing. Looking around at a bunch of free patterns I can see there are several things I can actually make with just these basics. My favorite website right now is the Lion Brand Yarn site. Great how-tos, podcasts and free patterns. I think Dave is a little scared.

I will tell you that it has me pondering in a whole new way this:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:13-16)
I think because I now know what it means to keep an eye on those stitches and make they don't fall off, because now I know what it means to have to count and check, should I knit or purl, so many patterns to choose from, or should I just have some fun and see what I can create. All this, and it just comes down to 2 sticks and a ball of yarn!

What a beautiful mystery it is to think of God the Father knitting us together, secretly in our mothers' womb. What an immense grace and blessing that He has worked this incredible miracle in my own body (Seven times!). Thanks be to God!

okay, i tried knitting. i thought it would be relaxing and easy to do. i did not find it quite so exciting as you. more like frustrating and enfuriating. i have 1/4 of a hat sitting in the corner of the living room that i started in february. i had big illusions of knitting little sweaters and booties for my then unborn son. poor antonio will be lucky if he even gets a tea cozy now.
