Solemnity of St. Joseph

We will be celebrating today, especially since Papa will be home from California tonight. Simplicity called for a favorite crockpot recipe, Italian beef. I'll make roasted tomatoes and onions and serve it with linguine. I was all set to make real cream puffs, but Lilly had promised Papa brownies with Reeses Pieces when he got home, that will be our dessert.

I love St. Joseph. It is a family name and Sam's middle name after my grandfather. My grandfather (this would be my mother's father, who passed away when I was in college) was awesome. My memories of him are always full of life and laughter. He loved his family very much and went through a lot to get them here to this country, sort of their own version of the flight into Egypt. I've always thought he could have no better name than Joseph and pleased my son can live up to the name as well.
