Angels and Apples

Today was full of treats! We made chocolate angel kisses (meringues) to celebrate the gift of our Guardian Angels.

And nearly finished baking in the oven, filling the house with the most wonderful smell God ever created (except the sweet scent of a new baby) is a delicious apple pie. The apples were picked by Anna's own little hands and she had a little story to tell me about nearly every one. We started with the crust. While it rested we read How to Make and Apple Pie and See the World, an all-time favorite story in our home. Then we made the filling. Mama put it together and put it in the oven.

Now the children are wandering in from outside and I am treated to a chorus of, "What is that wonderful smell?"

We are very thankful for those Apple Blossom fairies and our dear Guardian Angels.

Sophia and I baked our pie today too. It did smell heavenly. I need to put "How to Make an Apple Pie..." on hold at our library. We've never read it. Thanks for the recommendation. :)
