Fairies and Wizards

Included in my big book purchases this fall, was The Complete Book of Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Barker. I had been crooning over it all summer and made the decision to buy it because I knew it would some wonderful seasonal poetry to our home and I just couldn't resist it any longer. We had borrowed some from the library over the summer. The little girls kept asking when we could get one we didn't have to give back. I was already quietly planning (and making purchases) for some fairy fun. I knew I could have wonderful seasonal tie-ins. I knew my pink-loving Kay would love to be a part of all of this. I knew the girls were awaiting the handcrafts I had promised them. Then I saw the rabbit trail Elizabeth and Katherine had been drawn down. Too much coincidence. Still, I hesitated. Then Maddy got a hold of the book last week and fell in love. Head over heels. I catch her now, stealing moments away, reading the poems and and delighting in the illustrations. She wanted more fairies. I showed Maddy those beautiful blogs and her eyes lit up. Yes, yes, yes! So, we are down the fairy trail too.

And my darling Sam? Just in the nick of time, Theresa shares her creativity with us, and voila, he is bounding down his magic trail. He has begun to read the Harry Potter books. He begs me to let him go read the Harry Potter books.

Thank you dear ladies for sharing with me. Maybe we'll bump into each other as we skip down the trail.

Thanks for reminding me of the beauty of fairies and fantasy books that I had totally forgotten about. Used to do it with the older kids. Now it time to play more with the littles! (I think we'll make finger puppets!)
Blessings,
marianne

I asked my in-laws for this book a couple years ago for one of our girl's birthdays and received it! It's such a favorite and one that we pull out so often! We also used the flower fairy calendar this year.

Please share your fairy pictures when you get a chance! It's so much fun to see all the fairies around us.
