Have Papa explain to everyone at dinner that he needs to get up extremely early to drive to Pennsylvania the next day, possibly in snow, and so he needs to go to bed very early and would not be pleased at all if six children (not known for their ability to be quiet) made a lot of noise at bedtime, thus waking Papa up way before he needs to be. Because that would be bad.
Papa always explains things VERY CLEARLY.
It worked.

your kids have a bedtime? i thought it was let them lay where they lie type thing after seeing the picture of kay sleeping under the couch cushions. ;)
